Hillsdale College has launched a major national campaign to educate millions of citizens, including our elected officials, about the Constitution. For the first time ever, Hillsdale College is offering a no-cost 10 week online Constitution course based on the course Hillsdale College students must complete, in order to graduate. The course, “The Meaning and History of the Constitution”, began February 20, 2012 and will conclude the week of April 30th. Because the course is archived online you can take each course at your leisure.

The course covers such topics as the Declaration of Independence and its connection to the Constitution, how the Constitution is structured to protect individual liberty and ensure good government, the crisis of constitutional government faced by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, and its modern challenges during the “Progressive” era.

In recent years, Hillsdale has worked hard to expand its educational outreach, teaching citizens and policy makers (especially members of Congress and their staffs) about the timeless truths contained in our nation’s founding documents. This is a direct response to the way the Constitution is being ignored and violated by our government. After all, the Constitution is the supreme law of our nation, the framework by which our country should be governed. Its principles and structures are responsible for the greatest government in human history. The century-old attack on the Constitution, that continues today, has threatened to undermine our hard-won liberties and is reducing American citizens to subservience to an ever-expanding federal bureaucracy. Our choice of whether to recover the principles of liberty and limited government under the Constitution will determine if we will remain self- governing citizens or become dependent subjects ruled by unelected bureaucrats. That’s why Hillsdale College is committed to restoring and reviving the public’s understanding of the Constitution, once again making it the central focus of American government. As you probably know, Hillsdale College is one of the few colleges or universities in the country that requires all of its students, regardless of their major, to complete a one-semester course on the U.S. Constitution. Over the years, many Hillsdale friends, even those who never attended college here, have commented to me: “Dr. Arnn, I wish I could take Hillsdale’s Constitution course.” In response to these requests, this past year, for the first time ever, Hillsdale College offered a condensed “Introduction to the Constitution” online course at no charge. Frankly, I wasn’t sure what sort of a response a course like this would have. However, more than 180,000 people from all over the United States registered for this program. I was thrilled, not only by the reaction, but at what it indicates: Americans are willing and eager to study and defend the founding principles that made our country so prosperous! This re-awakening of national interest in the Constitution comes not a minute too soon.

The Bay Patriots have set a goal to put a Pocket Constitution, as seen here, in the hands of every child  in the Bay County school system, here in Panama City, Florida.  The latest count was approximately 25,000 students. Although we get very good pricing on these valuable documents we still need help raising the funds to make this purchase.

Perhaps you would like to help us reach our goal of $4,200, the amount we need to make this important buy.  We are hoping to get support from businesses that may be able to provide larger donations, but of course every dollar counts.

We are a non-profit organization and as such all donations  for this special project will be expended only for the purchase of the Pocket Constitutions.

Bay Patriots is open to ANYONE, regardless of political party, race or gender. Members shall “check” their affiliations at the door. We strive to join together simply as Americans who are concerned about our continued Liberty. We believe government from the national level to the local level grows more oppressive and intrusive each day. We believe governing by the “consent of the governed” should be limited to the powers allowed by the United States Constitution and not a successive line of perversive “case law” precedents.

We recognize different people have different opinions and we celebrate their individual rights to differ. We believe that the decorum displayed by Free Men and Women shall be without rancor. Passionate but not rude.

Bay Patriots is an ALL volunteer, self supporting organization and as such relies on membership dues and contributions for our funding. Our expenses include such things as printing costs, postage, informational radio spots and expenses incurred for special events. We receive pocket Constitutions from time to time from one of our sponsors, The Heritage Foundation, but also purchase them direct from other sources as needed. We have NO paid staff and depend upon the volunteer time of our members and Board of Directors.
